Pre-sale evaluation of ‘internet love’ ensured the perfect DB4

Noble House is often asked for its assistance in purchasing special cars. And so it came about that an enthusiast from Rotterdam requested their help when considering the purchase of a gorgeous Aston Martin DB4. The fact that his ‘internet love’ resided in the United Kingdom was no problem for Noble House, which also provides pre-sale evaluations on location.

And so the prospective owner took a plane to meet the seller in the company of Joop Heespelink, project manager at Noble House, in the hopes of finding an Aston Martin that would be worth its price. It was disappointing, ruled Joop, who knows exactly what a 1960 DB4 should look like. He listed a great number of small and large faults that would have to be fixed first. To inspect the progress of repairs, Joop flew to the UK two more times, after which the car was finally judged good enough to be driven home to the Netherlands by its ecstatic new owner.

With a freshly minted Dutch number plate, the dark-gray-green DB4 was ready to start its second life on the open roads of the Netherlands. Noble House fitted the car with the best Michelin tyres for this model. And with an eye on participation in tours, they also mounted a Monit trip computer in the car, a device that when not needed can be demounted without leaving a trace.

This is how the DB4 became the property of a British car aficionado who in his younger days had also experimented with a Triumph and a TVR, among others. Unfortunately, these cars did not always prove to be reliable. The scant time that can now be spent driving the DB4, is by no means to be wasted waiting by the roadside for backup.

The quality that Noble House offers in this respect is appreciated all the more by this owner of the DB4. The fact that the car drives superbly, is to his mind entirely due to the “extreme perfectionism” strived after by Noble House. This fits the expectations of the owner to a tee, who wants to drive in a car as immaculate as it is carefree. And extraordinarily special too, which makes ownership even more fun for him – he calls the Aston Martin magical, while the DB4 particularly for him is one of the most beautiful cars in history. Noble House is proud it was able to unite this owner with his dream car.

A small blemish on the lacquer of the DB4, which had been resprayed in England, brought a frown to the face of the new owner. Noble House was asked to investigate the matter and contacted a lacquer specialist for the job. Conclusion: the car was not well stripped before the last respray so that now the old and new lacquer layers were reacting adversely. Solution: do it all over again. So that at Noble House, first the DB4 could be admired in perfectly finished form, then stripped down to the naked panelwork.
