As of September 1969, Aston Martin’s brand new V8 engine was fitted to the elegant coachwork of the six-cylinder Aston Martin DBS, introduced two years earlier. From 1978, the V8 was made available as the Volante, the stunning drop-top version.
With more than 300 bhp, the DBS V8 and later the Aston Martin V8, emphatically announced their arrival into a select group of elite automobiles. Aston Martin manufactured the V8 from 1972 to 1989 and, during this period, released various versions. This Aston Martin V8 is a Series 2 Volante, which was the final series in which this particular car was built. This series was characterised by the use of a Weber-Marelli injection system that replaced the carburettors previously fitted to the engine. This gave the Series 2 Volante a lower bonnet because the injection system required much less space than the carburettors. The Series 2 Volante was manufactured from 1986 until production of the V8 was called off in 1989.

This original, left hand drive Aston Martin V8 Volante was one of the first models manufactured in 1986. This is made evident by the Aston Martin Service vouchers that accompany this car. The Volante, with its current and very classy Suffolk Red exterior and Beige interior, was delivered to its first owner, Billy Frankel, in Pennsylvania on 7 February 1986.
According to its service book, the Volante spent the summer months in Pennsylvania and the winter months in sunny Palm Beach, Florida. It was serviced in California on 14 September 2004 with a mileage of 40,479 miles. The last owner, a Canadian, bought the Aston Martin in California. Noble House bought this gorgeous, well-maintained Volante from him. The V8 Volante is fitted with an automatic gearbox and BBS alloy rims, representing the original specification for models manufactured between 1986 and 1989. At 48,500 miles, the current odometer reading is remarkably low.
